Product Name
Amerec K2 Steamer
DPS information
The following DPS information has been obtained from the device
directly using tuya-local and verified against the physical Amerec K2
controller.
DP 1
Name: Steam bath power / enable
Type: Boolean
Values: false = off, true = on
Settable: Yes
Note: DP1 also becomes true when Delayed Start is armed. The K2 power icon
remains illuminated while the delay is counting down, so true does not
necessarily mean that the steam generator is currently heating.
DP 2
Name: Target temperature
Type: Integer
Settable: Yes
Unit: Celsius
Range used by K2: 29 to 52 C
DP 3
Name: Current temperature
Type: Integer
Settable: No
Unit: Celsius
DP 9
Name: Bath Run Time
Type: String
Settable: Yes
Values in default 60-minute mode:
"5", "10", "15", "20", "25", "30", "35", "40", "45", "50", "55", "60"
The Amerec K2 manual specifies 5 to 60 minutes in 5-minute increments when
the generator is configured in its default 60-minute mode.
DP 10
Name: Bath Run Time Remaining
Type: Integer
Settable: No
Unit: minutes
Verified by starting a 35-minute bath. DP10 decreased while the bath was
running and reset to the configured bath time when idle.
DP 11
Name: Unknown
Type: Integer
Settable: Unknown
Observed value: 0
DP 101
Name: Option / Auxiliary output
Type: Boolean
Settable: Yes
Values: false / true
On this installation the Amerec K2 Option output is connected to the
speaker, so this is exposed in Home Assistant as "Speaker".
DP 102
Name: Temperature unit
Type: String
Settable: Unknown
Observed value: "C"
The generator is physically configured for Fahrenheit.
DP 103
Name: Unknown / optional function
Type: String
Settable: Unknown
Observed value: "0"
DP 104
Name: Delayed Start Hours
Type: String
Settable: Yes
Observed values include "0" and "1".
Verified by setting a 1 hour 30 minute delayed start.
DP 105
Name: Delayed Start Minutes
Type: String
Settable: Yes
Observed values include "0" and "30".
K2 delayed start uses 15-minute increments, therefore expected values are:
"0", "15", "30", "45"
DP 106
Name: Optional Spectra LED setting
Type: String
Settable: Unknown
Observed values: "0", "1", "3", "4"
This installation does not have the optional Amerec Spectra LED system,
so this DP has not been fully mapped.
Information about how the device functions
This is an Amerec K2 touchscreen controller connected to an Amerec AK series
steam generator. My installation uses an AK4.5 generator.
The K2 provides the following main functions:
- Steam bath On/Off
- Target temperature adjustment
- Current temperature display
- Configurable bath/session run time
- Remaining bath run time
- Delayed start
- Option/Auxiliary output (used for a speaker in my installation)
- Optional Amerec Spectra LED lighting (not installed on my system)
Power / Steam operation
DP1 controls the main On/Off function.
One important behaviour is that DP1 also becomes true when a delayed start
is armed. This does not mean the generator is currently producing steam.
The K2 keeps its On/Off indication active while waiting for the delayed
start.
Temperature
DP2 is the requested bath temperature.
DP3 is the measured bath temperature.
My generator is configured for Celsius and DP102 reports "C".
The generator has a hardware setting/jumper for selecting Fahrenheit or
Celsius, so other installations may report temperatures differently.
Bath Run Time
DP9 is the configured bath run time.
My generator is configured in the standard 60-minute mode. In this mode
the K2 allows:
5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55 or 60 minutes.
DP10 reports the remaining bath run time.
This was verified by setting a 35-minute session. DP10 decreased while the
steam bath was running. After stopping the bath it initially retained the
remaining value and subsequently returned to the configured session time.
The K2 manual also documents an alternative 24-hour operating mode,
selected by a hardware jumper on the steam generator. I have not tested
that mode.
Delayed Start
DP104 and DP105 contain the configured delayed-start hours and minutes.
For example, setting a delay of 1 hour 30 minutes resulted in:
DP104 = "1"
DP105 = "30"
The countdown itself appears to be performed locally by the K2. When the
display had counted down from 1:30 to 1:28, DP104 and DP105 continued to
report "1" and "30".
Option / Auxiliary Output
DP101 is the K2 Option/Auxiliary output.
The Amerec documentation describes this as a low-voltage output that can
be used for accessories such as Bluetooth speakers or standard LED
lighting.
In my installation it operates the speaker, so the working tuya-local
configuration exposes DP101 as a switch named "Speaker".
Optional Spectra Lighting
The K2 also supports the optional Amerec Spectra LED lighting system,
including colour and brightness controls.
My steam room does not have the Spectra LED system installed, so these
functions have not been fully mapped or tested.
Unknown/unused datapoints
DP11 and DP103 have not been identified. They have remained at 0/"0"
during the functions tested so far.
The device has been tested successfully with a custom tuya-local device
configuration in Home Assistant. Power, target/current temperature,
bath run time, remaining run time, auxiliary/speaker output and delayed
start are all exposed successfully.
