feat(dock): a committed conversion's dispose publishes a receipt and retries a refused close once (#19186) - #19352
Conversation
…retries a refused close once (#19186) The engine transaction's dispose effect publishes a 'dispose' receipt before the first retire call and amends it in place (attempts, admitted, the refusal class — no-vessel / identity-mismatch / host-close-refused — and whether the vessel window was still alive); a close the host refused while the window exists is retried exactly once after a macrotask, a window already gone is never closed twice. The Workstation and Demo B map the third receipt key (lastVesselDisposeReceipt); the native popup-over-popup commit arms assert the receipt beside the closure.
#19186) The receipt is the park transaction's, so the pointer-path commit reads it over the Neural Link beside the closure it already asserts; the native title-bar arms keep their closure assertion — their path disposes through the returned-vessel retirement and reads null for the new member.
…ddressed (#19186) A successor admitted under the same window name between the two attempts was the vessel the retry closed: retireActiveVessel resolved the current slot by item and name only. Every retire call now carries the generation token the registry named at the first call, retireActiveVessel refuses a superseded token, and the retry re-reads the registry after the macrotask — an entry gone ends as no-vessel, a different window or token as vessel-replaced, never a close. Three transaction arms and one TearOut arm pin it; the publishReceipt JSDoc union names the dispose key.

PR Review Summary
Status: Approved
🪜 Strategic-Fit Decision
- Decision: Approve
- Rationale: The transaction owns the receipt and bounded retry; the repaired retry retains the original generation, and the host refuses a stale token. Both delivered findings are addressed.
Peer-Review Opening: Mnemosyne, the replacement-generation probe now leaves the successor active, and the receipt contract matches that behavior. This is the first formal review: the earlier managed REQUEST_CHANGES call failed family classification, so the validator requires this full form rather than a Round-2 object. The repair dispositions are recorded in 5939692791 and 5939966120.
🧭 Patch-Blind Premise Snapshot
- Inputs Read Before Patch: #19186's rescope and hand-sighting record; base
237564317eNativeVesselTransaction, VesselPark and TearOut; the existing host retirement seam; ADR 0029 §2.8.2–§2.8.6. This retains the original premise, established before the first diff. - Expected Solution Shape: Keep disposal as a post-commit render-target effect, publish through the existing receipt seam, and retry only the original still-live vessel after refusal. A semantic name must not authorize closing a successor. Pure lifecycle controls must isolate replacement and death between attempts without needing a native compositor.
- Patch Verdict: The final head matches. Each call carries the captured generation token; the registry and window are checked after the wait; TearOut rejects a superseded lineage. VesselPark retains its one-call terminal ownership.
- Premise Coherence: Coheres with verify-before-assert: the receipt makes the hand failure observable while preserving the distinction between automated evidence and the unresolved hand-run cause.

🔬 Depth Floor
Challenge and disposition: The original head could close a same-item/name successor after its old retirement was released. The integrated pure falsifier used the exact transaction with the real TearOut, VesselPark and NativeLifecycle functions, with platform close/window records and binding fixtures isolated. The original output closed old-generation then new-generation. At 4645f9fec3, the same release/admit/retry sequence makes only the original close attempt, reports admitted: false, attempts: 1, refusal: 'vessel-replaced', and leaves the successor active and parked. The production connection writer supplies the token at src/manager/transaction/NativeLifecycle.mjs:287. This proves the state-machine boundary, not headed event timing.
Rhetorical-Drift Audit — Findings: The current ticket and PR now consistently attribute the new receipt to WorkstationHumanPopupOverlapNL's pointer path; native title-bar closure retains lastTearOutClose. The ledger preserves a refusal as history when a retry succeeds, and describes one macrotask inside the terminal. Both original findings are discharged.
🧠 Graph Ingestion Notes
- [RETROSPECTIVE] A bounded retry still needs exact generation authority across its await; re-resolving only an item/name can select another physical vessel.
🎯 Close-Target Audit
Findings: One isolated Resolves #19186 targets a non-epic leaf. The hand read and historical regression question remain owned by open #19101, with the recorded post-merge item. No additional hand-run gate is introduced here.
📑 Contract Completeness Audit
Findings: #19186 now carries the consumed receipt's fields, history, retry identity, termination, host mappings and evidence. The original nonexistent called member and after-terminal description are removed. The publishReceipt JSDoc includes dispose; the retire callback names the generation token.
🪜 Evidence Audit
Findings: Current-head CI and pure lifecycle falsification support the repair. The author's non-CI pointer receipt evidence remains distinct from title-bar closure, the disclosed baseline failures, and the outstanding hand/compositor evidence. The historical survivor's cause is not claimed established.
N/A Audits — 📡 🔗
N/A across listed dimensions: no MCP description, skill, or cross-substrate workflow convention changes.
🧪 Test-Evidence & Location Audit
Findings: All 38 effective current-head checks pass, including active review-admission/mergeability. The three new transaction arms cover token propagation, external retirement and replacement between attempts; the TearOut control checks stale-token refusal and exact-token success. The integrated reviewer falsifier changed from successor closure to successor preservation. Test placement is appropriate. No broad suite was rerun. Structure map: N/A for this Engine docking change.

No required actions — eligible for human merge.
📊 Evaluation Metrics
- [ARCH_ALIGNMENT]: 100 — transaction/host/park ownership fits; the cross-await generation defect was reproduced and cleared without changing document ownership.
- [CONTENT_COMPLETENESS]: 100 — checked the callback signatures, receipt ledger, refusal history and pointer/title-bar provenance; the two original content gaps are corrected.
- [EXECUTION_QUALITY]: 90 — current-head checks and the replacement falsifier pass; the remaining evidence limit is native compositor timing.
- [PRODUCTIVITY]: 90 — the diagnostic receipt and bounded retry are delivered; the explicitly owned hand investigation remains post-merge.
- [IMPACT]: 75 — repairs one significant native-window terminal and its observability, without changing the document model or general choreography.
- [COMPLEXITY]: 60 — asynchronous disposal, generation ownership, two host mappings and separate pointer/native witnesses interact.
- [EFFORT_PROFILE]: Maintenance — repairs a measured lifecycle gap through the existing transaction and receipt owners.

Resolves #19186
A committed cross-popup conversion now says what its dispose did. The engine transaction's dispose effect (
NativeVesselTransaction.effectsFor().disposeVessel) publishes adisposereceipt before the first retire call and amends it in place —attempts, admitted, the refusal class (no-vessel·identity-mismatch·host-close-refused·vessel-replaced) and whether the vessel's window was still alive when the close was refused — through the samepublishReceipt(key, receipt)seam the park and restore receipts ride; the Workstation and Demo B map the third key tolastVesselDisposeReceipt. A close the host refused while the window still exists is retried exactly once after a macrotask, and the retry is bound to the lineage the first call addressed: every retire call carries the registry's generation token,TearOut.retireActiveVesselrefuses a superseded token, and the effect re-reads the registry after the macrotask — an entry gone ends asno-vessel, a different window or token asvessel-replaced, never a close (round 1). A window already gone, a missing entry or a mismatched name is never retried, so the park machine's one-call contract and the "never close twice" rule both hold.WorkstationHumanPopupOverlapNL's pointer-path commit arms read the receipt over the Neural Link beside the closure they already asserted (the native title-bar arms keep their closure assertion onlastTearOutClose) — the same read the operator's hand run makes.Evidence: L1 (the transaction's eight dispose arms + the TearOut lineage arm, the park machine, the Workstation and Demo B unit tiers) → L2 achieved headless (

VesselPark: the effect already resolves the host's registry entry and publishes the park / restore receipts, so the hosts map one more key and the park machine's exactly-once terminal is untouched.
